DURAN DURAN POSTPONE REMAINING FOUR SHOWS ON UK TOUR: Bournemouth, Cardiff, Manchester, and Sheffield to be rescheduled, together with the other British concerts already lost
May 29th, 2011
Following a consultation with both a vocal coach and his team of ENT specialists today, Duran Duran singer, Simon Le Bon, has been advised that he needs to continue to rest his voice while his laryngeal problems are treated. In light of this news, the band have been forced to reschedule the remaining arena dates on their UK tour, slated to have taken place this week in Bournemouth (31st May), Cardiff (1st June), Manchester (3rd June) and Sheffield (4th June).
Fans should hold on to their tickets and can expect news of the rescheduled dates within the next few days.
Devastated by the news that they will not be able to resume the tour as planned on Tuesday, Simon said “I was really hoping that things would have improved enough by today to have allowed us to continue with the tour, but having spent two hours with one of the specialists, I have been advised that I need to hold off for about another week. I know how difficult this has been for all of the fans, as we’ve been postponing shows with very little notice, in the hope each day that the improvement would have been significant enough for me to sing again without risking any long-term damage. I am now focussing on getting back for Berlin – which is on June 8th.”

“If You Want To Make God Laugh – Tell Him About Your Plans”
This quotation from the great Woody Allen has been lingering in my sub conscious for the last couple of weeks so I decided to get it out and give it an airing. There we were in West London on the eve of our ‘jewel in the crown.’ Songs were rehearsed , the band was coming to the boil , last minute tweaks on our state of the art lighting rig and screens were being carried out by seemingly scores of technicians running around in every direction, when Simon turns to JT and I with a quiet, pained expression that screamed “this is not going to happen.”
After weeks of rehearsals and touring the U.S in preparation for this moment it seemed an incredibly cruel blow …not only to Simon , the band , the crew, the management , the promoters and, of course, the thousands and thousands of fans that had booked tickets , flights , trains and changed the whole flow of their lives to come to see Duran Duran play for 2 hours…these people I really feel for. After the initial sense of disbelief and searching for reasons , you move onto the next part of the whole process , which is finding a positive way forward . This usually starts with grasping at phrases like ‘Ces’t La Vie’ ‘Asi Es La Vida’ and that most articulate of expressions ‘Shit Happens’, but I am sure that this story will end in a positive way, and I know that all the shows are very close to being re-scheduled later in the year.
JT keeps talking about finding a ‘siver lining’ and I thought it would be watching Man Utd whoop Barcelona…unfortunately not to be , but at least they were beaten by the best , and I now realise that it’s actually being able to spend more time with my other half who is very close to bringing another Taylor into the world that is the silver lining I’ve been searching for ….
Hoping To See You Soon

And now all of a sudden they're cancelling far in advance:
DURAN DURAN FORCED TO RESCHEDULE VIENNA SHOW ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY JULY 20, 2011
May 30th, 2011
NEW DATE CONFIRMED FOR THURSDAY AUGUST 4TH – AT GASOMETER
Following the recent cancellation of Duran Duran’s ALL YOU NEED IS NOW UK TOUR, due to singer Simon Le Bon ‘s vocal problems, the band have been forced to reschedule their show in Vienna, originally planned for Wednesday July 20, 2011. The new date at Gasometer has been moved two weeks later, to Thursday August 4th, 2011.
The original Vienna show would have fallen at the end of a run of three consecutive shows (Leipzig, Munich and Vienna), before a day off and then another three gigs in Italy, and doctor’s have advised Le Bon that this grueling schedule could cause a relapse in his laryngitis.
Fans should hold on to their tickets which will be valid for the new date.
The band members are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but are relieved to have been able to find a suitable replacement date only two weeks later.
