A Birthday Message from Dom June 14th, 2013 To online friends and cyber surfers, It’s quite hard to believe another year has past (sic), or I should say flown by! It’s been a very fun and interesting year for me with many highlights and special moments. In late August, Duran Duran finished an amazing 18 month World Tour where the band seemed to gel more and play better together from each show to the next. The energy and excitement built to an all time high and the shows were some of the most enjoyable for me since first playing with the band back in December 2004. In September I began renting a professional studio where I go to work 5 days a week. It's my first studio away from home. It has been a place of great artistic development for me and has been a lifelong dream. I have been writing with and producing many interesting artists and bands, and everyone who has worked there has positive things to say about the experience. A few other interesting things have been; promoting my Blue to Brown album, seeing the fantastic results of a 13 week house renovation (though living through it seemed like hell), and last but not least, being able to spend a lot of time with my amazing family. It's a blessing to be able to see my children grow and develop, and to spend quality time with them and Martha. Thanks to everyone for the kind and thoughtful messages and wishes. Til next year Dom x www.duranduran.com/wordpress/2013/a-birthday-message-from-dom/

Happy birthday to her! HB to Dom, too, it just kind of threw me for a bit.

Dom needs to go back to being a studio musician.

Andy has to come back for that to happen.
Works for me.

Yep, that's the only way the Astronaut era fans will come back too.

Yeah, it is.
One of the problems is the bore level. Simon's bullshit blogs are fun to read, John's randomful ramblings are fun to read, Nick's alien blogs are a trip. Roger's glorified tweets... not so much. Dom's blogs, while much longer than Roger's, read pretty much the same. A remedy for insomnia. Andy's blogs were great.
And there's the live performance energy level. Dom's just not much of a mover. He's a bluesman, they hold still a lot, it's their way. Andy's a mover.
I like Dom, don't get me wrong, but Dom's the kind of guy I'd like for a next door neighbor, all nice and well-behaved, Andy's the guy I'd hang out with at the punk bar.
Without Andy, Duran Duran's "interestingness" is about 50% below where it should be.
