The problems are media coverage and album distribution. They can't do much of either one on their own, although they've had 30 years to learn how. Maybe they should call Trent Reznor.

They can sell via digital only, using an alternate website, or hell, they can do it on their own site!!!!

They can't sell digital only. Too many fans want hardcopy, DVDs if not vinyl albums. That's one of the things that killed record companies.
They could sell hard copies at their shows, along with better merch.
I saw an article that says the average American woman has a 37" waist. I'm not sure if that's true, but I do know that DD could sell a few million tee shirts in women's plus x sizes. Very few of their fans are size 5 anymore.
They should encourage fanvids. EMI pulled all the old Duran videos they could claim copyright on, or they put 'em on that goddamned VEVO channel. The more exposure the band - any band - gets on Youtube, the more albums they sell.
No stupid contests, just let fans post fanvids.

If John sold his own CD's, then DD can surely find a company that would produce and sell them too.
They need to get into reality and size their clothes for REAL women, not women who look like their wives.

And real men. Men get middle-age spread just like women. And they get beer guts.

I don't see many men buying their stuff. They don't have too many Durandy types anymore.

The male fans from back in the day would buy tees if they fit and looked like guy shirts - like grey with the DD logo in black.
The blue silver shirts are kinda girly.

In his next incarnation he wants to be a designer. I think he wanted to this time but it didn't work out.

Maybe he'll run his own art school someday.

He's going to have to do something to support himself, no band lasts forever. And kids don't like listening to their grandparents' music, so DD won't be getting a lot of airplay down the road.

Well, some of these kids now listen to shit like the Beatles. Why, I have no clue.

The Beatles are 50 years old. It's a retro thing, they don't like the Beatles the same way the original fans did. The kids see that the band was pretty cool in its day, and love songs were nice.
In the 60s there was a retro thing for the roaring 20s.
Remember all the Swing Kids from a few years back? The big band freaks doing the jitterbug?
