Roger Taylor's Freebass - did they "Prevail"? April 15th, 2013
Hi Katy, May you kindly ask Roger how many tracks he recorded with the group called "Freebass" and what he knows on an album made by them called "Prevail"? Many thanks, Marco Hi Marco, I have no idea what the album 'Prevail' is (although I do like the title a lot). I probably recorded up to 20 songs with Freebass ..it was a very creative and exciting period with fellow 'Freebassers' Jake 'Fonique' Roberts and Mark Bruce. Unfortunately, it was a short lived project, but I do look back on it with some nostalgia now, and interestingly enough Peter Hook of Joy Division/ New Order fame, has a band called Freebass. Rt

He doesn't specify WHEN he did these songs with Freebass, and which ones. Geez Rog, thanks for the details!

I tried looking it up once and never found anything.
My guesses are that either Roger's a little embarassed by it or he was stoned on his ass and can't remember much. Otherwise it would be as exploited as much that awful TV Mania thing. Anything for a buck. Or fifty bucks.

Maybe he wasn't smart like Andy to get writing credits and have a money deal out of it.

Maybe. Maybe Giovanna got the rights in the divorce!

I hope she did!!!! You have to wonder if going back on the road changed Roger, and if that caused their divorce.

That was the prevailing rumor at the time.
I don't know, though, I never saw any actual evidence one way or the other.

You'd think by now she would have done an interview in SOME magazine about it, but I can't find it online.

Well, they were the "quiet ones."
Still, if that's all there was to it, you'd think one of "em would have said the touring thing was too much. I mean, it's not like it's some big ugly scandal or anything. "I was tired of him being gone for months at a time, being here all alone with the kids." No big deal, divorces happen for far worse reasons.
I have no evidence at all that there was any kind of abuse going on. I'm happy for that.

Still, for as long as they were together, and for them to coincidentally break up AFTER he goes back to DD, seems weird to me.

Yeah... Maybe she was afraid he'd collapse again. I dunno. They don't seem to hate each other or anything. Somewhere out there Nick and JulieAnne's divorce details went public. I saw the court papers years ago, hopefully they've been deleted now. There was some really ugly stuff. It was NOT an amicable separation.

Why did they split?

I don't know the real reason why. But in the hearings I know Nick was saying some nasty stuff about Julianne, and as I recall, she said pretty much the same things about him. Both denied the accusations, of course. But for the real reason, I don't know if any of the accusations were true, or if they were just tired of being married to each other.

She probably got sick of him wearing her clothes and using up her makeup.
