In this episode of Katy's Kafe John discusses - at great length - David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust album. Funny how after talking about all the Bowie songs Duran Duran covered he neglects to mention the most recent cover, a cover of one of the songs on Ziggy Stardust. HAY NIGEL - LOOKAT OVER HEEYAH!!!

I like Bowie, but I don't worship him. I don't think that album is so great.
I was glad though to hear in the JT interview part of his Metafour album that he loved the first 2 DD albums. Those are my favorites too.

I completely love a lot of Bowie's stuff, so I kinda agree with the Nige. It's just that he obscurely referenced Missing Persons and ignored Andy's damned good cover.
eta: BTW, Johnny, the Who's Tommy isn't a perfect album. Quadrophenia's much better.

I've been thinking about it and came up with some more.
The Beatles Rubber Soul - not a bad song on it
Kiss Alive! - the first one. I usually hate live albums, but the songs on this one rock so much harder than the studio versions.
Pink Floyd The Wall - Just as Quadrophenia was a perfect expression of teen ansgst and ultimate meltdown during the mod/rocker war 60s, The Wall is an adult ansgst and ultimate meltdown after he becomes a rockstar. Very believable and crazy.
Black Sabbath Masters of Reality - one of my favorites.

Black Sabbath Paranoid..... now THAT is a great album.
Beatles, don't like anything of theirs.
Kiss.... overplayed and overhyped. Mediocre musicians at best.
Pink Floyd.... love the Wall album, I had that on cassette. Dumped them all though when we moved.
Led Zeppelin..... I don't have any of their full length albums, but Robert Plant I do, like Shaken and Stirred, and I've got a few songs like Big Log I bought from iTunes.

I can't remember which album, Shaken & Stirred or Pictures At 11 but I loved it to death. I played the hell out of it. I haven't listened to either one in a while, I need to listen to them again!
The Outlaws' Green Grass & High Tides album is a good listen. Intelligent country music.

Let me know if you find it's Shaken N Stirred, there are many awesome songs on that album.
I am still loving the Black Sabbath 13 album.

It'll be a while before I can do anything with the vinyl. My record player's nowhere near an outlet, and the outlets are nowhere near a place where I can put the record player. Sad.

I need a computer-adaptable turntable. Hell, I don't even know if my poor old Magnavox still works!
